Wow you are going to make us pick a most favorite, really? I’ll have to think (I’ve got tons of favorite connections online) about it and come back.
Great giveaway Erica and send my thanks to Scott & John both! Can’t wait to read the book!
Doesn’t look like Scott will be in my neck of the woods on his tour. He was in North Carolina but I didn’t know about that stop until last week so I missed him.

Sad day! I hate that you missed him.
And I was hoping this one would make people have to think hard.

Awesome post Erica!
Thanks for the shout-out! We had a great time and I’m excited about people reading Scott’s book. Tons of great information in it.
Cheers!
John

I’ll have to write a post about you and Dean soon. I’m excited to give someone the possibility of reading it.

What a totally awesome post! I really wish I could have been there at the event. I hear a lot of my buds went boooo. So glad to hear you took away so much from the book. It sounds like a true winner!
Way to go Scott and John, you both ROCK! Just added John’s blog to my reader but I have been following him on Twitter.
As for my favorite connection online, it was with a wonderful woman by the name of Lynn Terry (umm we all know her right?) and it was over 6 years ago that we just connected online, planned to meet up while she was in Chicago for a conference and as they say the rest was history. We have been good friends since and working together for quite some time now. She has enriched my life in so many ways and I’m thankful to have her (and her family) in my life.
Looking forward to seeing you again soon, Erica! Hope all is well. Oh and Scott will be in Chicago but I don’t think I can make it BUMMER. Ohh ohh and I am just about finished with the last book by Leo and love it. Good stuff on the minimalist life. I so need to clear out the clutter!

Great example Angie. Lynn is a great friend and so motivation with our businesses.

Love Bob’s mind map info. I had not been understanding it AT ALL and at NAMS he taught a class on it and I went in saying I was going to get it before I left Atlanta LOL And he wouldn’t let me leave until I got it and now I’m hooked. I am now making mind maps for everything, business (blog posts, site ideas, product reviews, etc.), keep track of my workouts and more. Love it!

It didn’t take me but two seconds to think of both!! Easy peasy!
My WORST online connection: I live in a small town, so I don’t really have any (or many, I guess you could say) of my online connections near me. Someone obsessed with the internet – understands ‘our world’. The blogging, internet marketing, affiliate marketing world. You know? But one day I met a dude quite near me who totally ‘gets’ our world and is a part of it. I thought – how cool is this?? And the guy is married, family man, active in his church. Sounds like a nice guy to get to know, right? So we start talking – everything’s cool. Our convos move to Skype – as is a quite normal progression for fellow marketers. Everything’s still groovy …..for a while. Until one night – he completely slimed me!!!! Slime? Yes, slime. Basically, he turned into one of those guys you’d meet in an AOL chat room back in 1996, if you know what I mean. OMG!! I completely freaked out! Blocked him every possible where I could – tagged him in my stats program, to make sure and watch if he came back to my sites…. and prayed he’d go far, far away!!
As for the BEST – hands down, Mrs. Loretta Oliver. I met her through PayPerPost several years back. A group of us started our own small message board and became close. Loretta and I started brainstorming together. And we’ve since had projects together and we are on Skype all day, every day. Or we text each other. Or we Twitter DM each other. She’s totally one of my very best friends. And I’ve learned sooooo much from her. And she is just completely awesome!
Man, that was easy! LOL! Thanks so much for the chance, Erica and John! And thanks for being the real awesomesauce that you are, Scott!
P.S. Your favorite line in the book is just way too precious!
http://THesmallbusinesstranscriptionist.com Erica
Oh man. I know how those guys are too LMM. Some guys are total gentlemen and then others I want to ask “Are you freaking serious?”
I like that Loretta person too.

Oh my gosh is my face red over here. You all are too sweet
http://THesmallbusinesstranscriptionist.com Erica
Ah, well at least you know what we say about you behind your back.
And thank-you for coming that night and this giveaway!
Most of all, I love that you love the dedication to my son and could see it in my eyes. That little man means the world to me

Scott,
It was an honor to meet you. I’m sure you know I’m a raving fan for life.

My inspiration online has been Lynn Terry. I wrote her that I was coming to Nashville, and she made plans to meet me. I was a cyberspace newbie, and she was willing and happy to come meet me. She is transparent, and I feel like she has conquered cyberspace and develops real relationships and trust. I am from Boston and coming to Nashville for Bar Camp to see Lynn and meet folks from around there. Will you be going? I will be there with my daughter who is a celebrity event planner in Nashville. If she does marketing it doesn’t feel this way. I would love to read the book! Thanks!
http://THesmallbusinesstranscriptionist.com Erica
Hey Rhonda,
Lynn pops up a lot doesn’t she? In fact, I’m having lunch with her today! The world is so small.
I will be at Bar Camp! Can’t wait to meet you and your daughter. There will be a bunch of us around and I’m sure you’ll recognize some others from SSWT there.

How fabulous! And how nice to see some of my fave people on your comments list. They are my favorite connections – from SSWT!
Least favorite — the person who left a comment on one of my YouTube videos, telling me that my hair was a mess (it actually was a good hair day for me!).
Thanks for the opportunity!
http://THesmallbusinesstranscriptionist.com Erica
Lain,
I’ve made some great connections at SSWT too. I think that says a lot about how much Lynn has effected us all.

Hmm the favorite and least favorite discussion gets me really thinking … i usually fall in the “how to get around in the most diplomatic way”
Ok getting to the point … my favorite online connection is Kristen Nicole from siliconangle.com … she is a great person to work with
http://THesmallbusinesstranscriptionist.com Erica
Hi Sarwat,
I’m not familiar with Kristen Nicole but I’m checking out her site now. Thanks for the great tip.

I loved all of your responses. In an attempt to stay impartial, I made my boyfriend read your stories and choose the winner.
He picked Lisa Marie Mary. He said you deserved it after dealing with such a internet jackass.
Thank you for participating and I hope you will all read Scott’s book. I know you are going to love it. Be sure to come back and tell me what you think!

I’ve always took a long time during the collecting part, I would really have to get into organizing it and I will definitely try your tips. And like you, the extra time I get form being organized is spending more time with my family, and also doing things I like, my hobbies.
Thanks for sharing this dreamy orange dip. It looks like it’s easy to prepare so thank you for sharing your favorite PLR article.
I love fruits and one of those is the orange. They are totally rich of Vit.C.

Wow, thanks for this awesome post that talk about me. Since I’m involved with social media, I’m much more of a narcissist than I like to let on, but this really made my day.
I’ve never been one to simply “write this way because it’s the right write way” which always frustrated my teachers. I write how and when it feels right for me, which is a lot and that helps me stay consistent.
Thanks again and I look forward to the rest of this series.
http://THesmallbusinesstranscriptionist.com Erica
I also have a sort of tongue-in-cheek style and never followed a “writing formula” either. It drove my teachers kind of crazy too.
http://www.webuildyourblog.com Andrew @ Blogging Guide
I always bring along a pad and a pen, so that when ideas strike at least I can write them down and not forget about them. Maybe I’ll try that digital recorder. Sounds really handy.
http://transcriptionhq.blogspot.com Carey Suante
Nicely put!
Only wish people take more time to prepare for their recordings. This will not only save us, transcriptionists time but save cost for them too.

So get what you are talking about here! Love the idea of teaching rather than arguing. Just the insight I needed to today. Thanks!
Thanks Andrea. I was just trying to remind myself of this again this morning.
I often find that when my 3 year old and I have confrontations it’s because I haven’t explained to her what we are doing or that we are in a hurry.

So glad I’ve finally got around to reading this post. Everyone’s got their own stuff going on and making a decision to change things followed by *acting* on that decision is for but a few.
Please *do* branch out and be innovative when the time is right for you! Treadmills and negativity aren’t what it’s all about! You’ve clearly got some great ideas and the attitude to go with them.
Gee,
Thanks for your comments! I think it’s very easy to get into the “can’t see the forest for the trees” mentality and it’s always great to take a step back to see the bigger picture.

Erica and her team did a spectacular job on the entire series of teleseminar transcripts for a very important program we offered to our authors.
Thank you Erica and Heather! My members comment often as to how much they appreciate the transcripts and how professional and attractive they are.
Wow, thanks a bunch for posting the recipe, I have been looking for it last few days, because I’m planning to surprise my girlfriend’s birthday this coming May. I will try it later for me to practice and add some more sprinkles.
http://TheInvisibleOffice.com Erica Cosminsky
Glad it will help. This recipe usually turns out great. Recently I’ve started putting about 1 tablespoon of Dairy-Free Sour Cream into it, to lighten it up a little.
I’d love to know how it turns out.

Hi. Question. I have purchased Loretta’s course and it is a good, informative course. I understand the mechanics of transcription and I am capable of doing it, BUT, how do I find clients? That to me is the biggest challenge when you don’t have experience is convincing someone to allow you to transcribe something for them when you don’t have a resume. What is the best way to go about getting clients if you are brand new to this business? Thanks
http://TheInvisibleOffice.com Erica Cosminsky
Hi Gary,
There are a number of ways to get new clients. It’s always good to have a website, and a Facebook fan page so people can find you. When I first started, I did some contract work off online job boards but my big break came from in-person networking. Going to local meetups, chamber of commerce mixers or seminars are a good way to meet a few people. Once you have a few clients, your testimonials and reputation build up. Then the referrals start. Referrals are our biggest lead to new clients.

Hi Erica,
Thanks for your reply and the information. I do have one other question though if you don’t mind. How much chance does one have of getting hired by a transcription company if they don’t have any prior experience? The idea of doing transcription as an employee and collecting a regular paycheck even on a part-time basis is a little more appealing to me than having to go out acquiring clients. Thanks again!

So sorry I didn’t see this post till now. I have good memories of that event.

What headset/software combination will permit recording of internet phone calls? I have the Platronics 995 Wireless Stereo Headset which I agree is simply terrific. But I can only capture my own voice when recording phone calls. The audio software (Cool Edit Pro) does not capture the receiver audio; only the transmitter (my own voice). Your help is both appreciated and needed. And thanks for the great product reviews.
http://TheInvisibleOffice.com Erica Cosminsky
Have you tried Pamela recording software? It’s not free but it’s very reasonable.
